Overview
Experience the magic of Morocco's Sahara Desert on this private 2-day tour from Ouarzazate with LGBTQ Morocco Tours. In just two days, you'll travel through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in southern Morocco — from the palm-fringed Dadès Valley to the towering slot canyons of Todra Gorge — before arriving at the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, one of the most spectacular desert destinations in all of Africa.
Day one takes you along a classic southern Moroccan route, with stops at the magnificent Amridil Kasbah in the Skoura oasis, the rose fields and traditional villages of the Rose Valley, and the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge — a sheer-walled canyon rising 300 metres above the canyon floor. You'll arrive in Merzouga in time for a sunset camel ride into the dunes, followed by a night at a private desert camp under an ocean of stars.
Day two offers the option to add an ATV or sand buggy excursion before departing the Sahara. The return journey passes through Rissani, one of Morocco's oldest trading towns, and winds through the Anti-Atlas Mountains via Agdez back to Ouarzazate — completing a circular route through the very heart of southern Morocco.
At LGBTQ Morocco Tours, we create fully private, bespoke journeys where every traveller — regardless of who they are or who they love — is welcomed, respected, and free to enjoy Morocco's extraordinary beauty.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Ouarzazate – Amridil Kasbah – Rose Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga
Depart Ouarzazate in the morning and head northeast along the southern foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is the Skoura oasis, a lush sea of date palms sheltering the remarkable Amridil Kasbah — one of the most beautifully preserved fortified manors in Morocco, still inhabited by the same family for centuries. Explore the kasbah's decorated reception rooms, ancient granaries, and rooftop terraces overlooking the palm grove.
Continue through the Valley of Roses (Vallée des Roses), renowned for its fragrant Damask rose fields that bloom each spring and supply Morocco's essential oil and rosewater industry. Even outside the flowering season, the valley is strikingly beautiful, with green terraced fields and traditional mud-brick villages nestled beneath dramatic pink cliffs.
Next, drive north to the Todra Gorge, where the Todra River has carved a magnificent canyon through the High Atlas limestone. The gorge narrows to just a few metres wide at its deepest point, with salmon-pink cliff walls soaring 300 metres overhead. Stretch your legs with a short walk through the canyon floor, passing local Berber women doing laundry in the ice-cold river.
Continue east across the Tafilalet plains to Merzouga, arriving in time for a golden sunset camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sand shift from amber to deep crimson as the sun dips below the horizon, then settle into your private desert camp for a traditional Berber dinner, live music around the fire, and an unforgettable night of stargazing in the Sahara.
Overnight: Sahara Eden Camp or similar private luxury desert camp
Meals: Dinner & Breakfast included
Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Agdez – Anti-Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate
Rise before dawn to watch the sunrise paint the dunes in extraordinary shades of rose and gold. After a leisurely breakfast at the camp, enjoy the morning in Merzouga with optional activities: an exhilarating ATV quad bike or sand buggy ride through the Erg Chebbi dunes is one of the most thrilling ways to experience the Sahara.
Depart Merzouga and travel south to Rissani, an ancient walled town and the historical capital of the Tafilalet region — birthplace of the current Alaoui royal dynasty. Browse the bustling weekly souk, explore the ruined Ksar Abbar, and soak up the atmosphere of this centuries-old Saharan trading hub.
The return journey to Ouarzazate heads south and west through the Anti-Atlas Mountains via Agdez, a scenic route through rocky plateaux, argan tree forests, and remote Berber villages rarely seen on tourist itineraries. Arrive back in Ouarzazate by late afternoon.
